Petty Creek – Zackery Lynn Morris, of Petty Creek, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, at his home due to a tragic accident.
He was born on May 3, 1952, in DeLeon, Texas, to Zeke and Marie Morris. As a young man, he grew up in Texas on a ranch with his parents and sister Susie, where he attended DeLeon schools and played football.
In 1976, Zack moved to Montana where he met the love of his life, Charlotte Rose Ahearn. They lived in the Lolo Hot Springs for a short period until they married on Aug. 12, 1977, and began a wonderful
life up Petty Creek. It was there that Zack and Charlotte built a log home and gave birth to twins, Charles Curtis and Hattie Jo, on Jan.26, 1982.
Zackery continued to build log homes with Don and Darell Babcock until he started his logging career. He found his calling behind a chain saw and worked as a timber faller for the majority of his life.
He found his passion in working in the woods and wood crafting. He settled at home with his woodshop and sawmill. This would be the place where his life ended but his memories will continue forever.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son. He was always there to help a friend or neighbor, or at least, put a smile on their face. He was the man of the family and will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; children, Hattie (Chris) and Charlie (Chelsea); parents, Zeke and Marie; sister, Susie (Terry); grandchildren, Carson, Hailee, Logan, Lillie and Landrie; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins from Texas and Montana.
A celebration of life will be held up Petty Creek at the Morris home, 31167 Bill Creek Road, Alberton, on Thursday, May 30, at 4 p.m.
It will be a potluck event to honor Zack's memory for family and friends.
