MISSOULAâ�,��**– Our beloved mother, Vonnie Powell, 84, went to sleep in death on Saturday, March 30, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
Vonnie was born in Missoula on March 3, 1929, and was a lifelong Missoula resident.
She married Al Powell in August 1946 and began a 52-year union with a ride down Higgins Avenue in a wheelbarrow.
Vonnie was an avid gardener and especially loved roses. She was active in PTA when her children were young. In her later years, she enjoyed bowling, traveling, summers at the lake and spending time with family and friends.
She worked many years for 4B's Wholesale and 4B's restaurants until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; son, Bill; brother, Ed Thurston; and son in-law, Bob Homer.
Vonnie is survived by her three sons and their spouses; two daughters and their spouses; 10 grandchIldren; nine great-grandchildren; sister in-law, Peggy Thurston; and many, many cousins.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cremation has taken place at Cremation and Burial Society of the Rockies and services are pending.
