Winnie Hintz-Zeller, 79, of Missoula, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Riverside Health Care of natural causes. Family was at her side.
Winnie was born in Webster, South Dakota, on Jan. 6, 1935, to Henry and Winnie Roseth. They moved to Missoula when Winnie was a little girl. She grew up in East Missoula, went to Missoula public schools and graduated in 1952.
On Oct. 16, 1954, she married James W. Hintz in Missoula. They moved to Piltzville and raised their children. James passed away in 1977. She was a widow for several years, when she married George Zeller in September of 1984. They were together until June of 2012.
Winnie was a woman of many talents – cosmetologist, cashier, gardener, landscaper, bus driver. Her best job was her ability to be a wife and mother.
Winnie was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She assisted the ladies in making quilts for charity. Winnie loved the Lord and could be found singing hymns frequently or talking to her children about the Lord.
She enjoyed camping, golfing, playing piano and singing. She loved family get-togethers as often as possible. Family and friends were the most important part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, husband, two sons and a grandson.
Survivors include her children, Diane Smart of Cheney, Washingon, Roberta Hintz of Clinton, and Jay Hintz, Jamie Verworn and Kellie Hintz, all of Missoula; grandchildren, Christine Transue, Alisha Miller and Melissa Verworn; plus many others who were part of the family.
Graveside services will be held at Missoula Cemetery, 2000 Cemetery Road, at
10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8. All friends and family are invited.
