Wilma "Darlene" Gilreath, 80, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at St. Patrick Hospital of natural causes.
She was born on September 26, 1935 in Crow Agency, MT to Louise Pearl and William Cosgrove. She was raised in the Pryor and Billings area.
She married Walter Gilreath on Sept. 4, 1952. They ranched near Custer, MT. They were blessed with four daughters. The family also lived in Helena, where the girls grew up then back to Billings.
In 1989 a couple of years after Walter's passing, Darlene moved to Missoula and began a new chapter of her life. She became the butterfly she was meant to be. She joined a bowling league and found many new friends. Friday nights, after bowling, you could find her at the Eagle's Lounge, laughing and dancing the night away. She was a spunky red head with an infectious smile and a zest for life. Strangers were only friends she hadn't met yet.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and camping while she could. She was a very proud grandma of her nine grandchildren and many of the kids' friends. The sixteen little ones who called her Grandma Great were the light of her life and a source of great joy. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include four daughters; Joyce, Mary, Alice and Debbie; nine grandchildren; Michael, Michelle, William, Jeremy, Jason, Danny, Ronna, Shanna, Brenda and Christine; Sixteen great grandchildren; Grayden, Olivia, Aric Jonas, Talon, Madison, Mason, lil' Jeremy, Brandon, Samantha, Katelyn, Emma, Christian (deceased), Malachi, Blythe, Macie, Madi and Drew. Also a sister, Carol Jean, whereabouts unknown.
Services and burial of ashes will be at a later date in Billings.
