William Alexander "Bill" Nicholson, 68, passed away Feb. 6, 2014, at Mineral Community Hospital in Superior. Bill was born Jan. 3, 1946, to Alexander and Bernice Nicholson. He grew up in Seattle, along with his three siblings.
Bill served for four years in the Air Force, and after his honorable service he went to work in the shipyards of Seattle. In the 1970s, he moved to Montana. He met his wife, Shirley Briggs, and they were married Feb. 14, 1986. They raised their two children, Jimmy and Anna.
Bill worked at various jobs in Mineral County until he found his home at Mineral Community Hospital as maintenance engineer.
Bill enjoyed life and loved to be with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Superior Elementary School, many local daycares and at Mullan Trail Bank.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Alexander and Bernice and his stepmother Jennie.
Bill leaves behind his wife Shirley of DeBorgia; son Christopher Nicholson of Seattle; son Jimmy (Jannell) of DeBorgia; daughter Anna (Bobbie) Rowden, stationed in Sasebo, Japan; sisters Deena (Frank-deceased) Menzes of Isleton, Calif., and Marilyn (Jack-deceased) Longthorne of Hillsboro, N.D.; brother Andrew Nicholson of Seattle; mother-in-law Cheryl Stehr of Superior; beloved sisters -in-law Susan (Roy) Kay of Superior and Marie (Wayne) Boyce of Superior; and brother-in-law Howard Briggs Sr. of Monroe, Wis. Bill is also survived by grandchildren Hailey and Caleb Rowden, Gracie and Alex Nicholson; nephews Adam Kay, Luke and Dalton Boyce, and Howard (Squeekie) Briggs Jr.; niece Tonya Briggs; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
