William Kent "Billy" Miller

April 30, 1953 — September 24, 2022

William Kent Miller, 69, passed away on Saturday, September 24th, 2022 in his hometown and birthplace of Missoula, MT.

Billy, as he was known to friends and family, was born on April 30th, 1953. His parents, Margaret and Otis Miller, did not have a name picked out for him so he was named “Bill” due to the large number of hospital bills and Kent after the street they lived on. He would always love to tell that story. He spent many childhood summers exploring Flathead Lake with his siblings and continued to visit as an adult to spend time with his family.

After high school, Bill entered the military as a medic and was stationed in Germany. Upon returning to the states, he pursued a career in civil engineering. Bill attended several universities including the University of Montana and Montana State University. He spent the majority of his career working for Otay Water District, San Diego Water District, and the state of California where he met his wife, Teri. She says she was immediately enamored with him, a geeky engineer with polyester pants, coke bottle glasses, and a calculator in his pocket.

Bill had always dreamed of having a family. In 1996 his twin daughters Molly and Megan were born followed by his son Miles in 2001. His children were the joys of his life and he was the best father in the world. He was there for his children unconditionally and dedicated his life to ensuring the best for them.

In 2007 Bill moved back to his beloved Missoula where he was able to enjoy many years of retirement with his family. He loved to sing and was a member of the Mendelssohn Club which his father had been part of many years before. Bill was a lifelong learner and re-enrolled in the University of Montana, attending a great number of classes over the years. He was once recognized around the UM campus for his distinctive handlebar mustache. Bill was known for his goofy and engaging sense of humor, often carrying around a cheetah print wallet much to the chagrin of his family.

Bill had many hobbies and passions. His love of music spanned many genres and he had an extensive collection of CDs. He was also very proud of his board game collection. He loved to work out, sometimes going several times a day, and had many friends at Fuel Fitness. Above all, he was an ardent Griz fan and was able to attend his last Griz game on Saturday the 24th.

He is preceded by his mother Margaret Miller, his father Otis Miller, and his brother Jack Hanover. He is survived by his wife Teri, his kids Miles, Megan, and Molly, and his 5 brothers and sisters: Janet Miller, Robert Miller, Douglas Miller, Harriet Becker, and Diane Gannon as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
