After a protracted battle with cancer, William (Bill) Marek passed away on October 23, 2014 at the age of 76 surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his wife, Marilynn Thompson Marek, children Debora (Gregg) Anstensen, David (Janet), and Pamela. Grandchildren Anne and James D. Marek, Evan R.James, and Mathias W. Anstensen.
Bill was born on July 31, 1938 in Hamilton, MT to father James Dennis Marek and Lena Frances (Hammer) who predeceased him. He grew in a large loving family with three brothers and six sisters. Preceeded in death by James D., Edith (Bullard), Caroline (Mayberry), John M, and Robert A., Survived by Roselyn (Gyles), June (Ehinger), Mary Francis (Zepeda), and Michaelene (Williamson).
Bill married schoolmate Marilynn Thompson on July 27, 1957, while working for Davis Brothers, a wholesale pharmacy distribution center and serving in the National Guard 1955 to1962, He eventually retired from Bergen Brunswig who acquired Davis Brothers after 44 years. The couple raised their three children in the Target Range area.
Along with extensive travel, Bill was active in his children and grandchildren's lives, Bill enjoyed pulling his kids waterskiing with his boat on Salmon Lake while camping, and later his grandchildren at the family cabin on Flathead Lake.
In retirement Bill volunteered at the Senior Center, bowled, and drove school bus.
Bill requested a memorial service at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, at 2pm Tuesday October 28. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Clancy Cone, and the oncology, and heart center at St. Patrick's Hospital.. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Partners Hospice.
