Obituary for Will Cooney

Will Cooney, 39, of Turah, a friend to so many, passed away on the morning of November 16, 2014, with his loving wife by his side. Will will always be remembered for his quick and sincere smile, contagious laugh and caring spirit. Countless people lost a person that could only be called a dear friend, for all who knew him counted him as such.
With his work for the TSA, Will had the opportunity to see many parts of the United States and have many adventures. The last month of his life was nothing short of another great adventure. An avid Steelers fan, Will saw his first NFL game last month followed by his first trip deep sea fishing off of the coast of Florida. Sadly, he never did make it to Heinz field in Pittsburg to watch his Steelers play, though we suspect his spirit will still be watching the games in the next world.
Outside of work, Will enjoyed spending time bowling and golfing as well as spending time with his family and friends.
Will was born in Missoula on October 17th, 1975 to Dave Cooney and Linda Brome. He is survived by his wife, Emily Darling; his son, Jareth Darling of Turah; his daughters Lacey Robinson of Butte and Aspen Brome of Montana City. He is also survived by his Father, Dave Cooney and Step mother, Jody Cooney of Missoula; his mother, Linda (Dan) Killoy of Miles City. Additionally he is survived by his brothers Sgt. Jesse and Tylar Cooney, both of Missoula; his sister Amanda Cooney of Missoula and his father-in-law Irwin Groner and mother-in-law Judy Groner. He is preceded in death by his brother Bob Cooney of Butte.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations are made to any local Veterans charity, as this was near and dear to Will's heart.
Services will be held Friday, November 21st at 10 a.m. at the Garden City Funeral Home (1705 W Broadway, Missoula, MT). A wake will be held later in Butte for Will, with dates pending. A reception will be held at Will's and Emily's home following the service, in Turah.
