Obituary for Wesley "Kirt" George

Wesley "Kirt" George peacefully passed away on February 10, 2018. He was born on Groundhog Day, which he was very proud of, February 2, 1936 in Choteau, MT to "Wes" and Edna George. He was the second oldest of four children.

In his grade school years, there were only enough boys from first to 8th grade to make a football team. In Kirt's words "Us farm boys would go and play the 7th and 8th grade Choteau team who were dressed in their uniforms and "whooped them every time!" He continued to play football through high school, though he was shorter than most and his team mates thought they should use him as the football!

After high school he joined the National Guard and then served as a paratrooper in the Army for another 2 years.

In 1965, he married his sweet heart and love of his life, Donna and enjoyed 52 years of happily ever after with her.

They have 2 sons Rick and Randy. He enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with his boys and many camping adventures as a family.

He worked at the Bonner Mill for 39 years, running heavy equipment unloading and loading logs from logging trucks and trains.

Kirt also volunteered at the Missoula Fire Department in Bonner as a firefighter and EMT for 20 years and received Volunteer Fireman of the Year Award in 1987.

He had a great sense of humor, loved people and teased everyone that he ever met. He loved to give people a bad time! And they loved him for it! Kirt was definitely loved by many--it wasn't unusual for him to receive a phone call from a young friend or a visit from the neighbor's dog, "Tuffy". He will be missed by his many friends and family!

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Edna George, and his oldest brother, Lyle George.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; sons Rick (Carol) of Nevada and Randy (Michelle) of Florida; grandchildren, Selina and Richard of California; Jasman and Justin of Florida; great-granddaughter, Ameris; his sisters, Sharon of Utah and Karon of Bozeman: and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Cemetery followed by a memorial service and luncheon at 2:30 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Clinton.
