Obituary for Warren Sims

Warren Sims, 88, of Missoula, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. He was born on Oct. 25, 1927, to Ed and Ica Mae Sims in Stevensville. He attended school at Upper Burnt Fork and graduated from Stevensville High School, where he met Rosemary Rife. They were married on Aug. 6, 1946.

They enjoyed many adventures together; camping, hunting, fishing and golfing. They spent 16 winters as snow birds in Yuma, Arizona, where Warren created some amazing stain glass, lamps, figures, sun catchers and a beautiful window. Summers were spent at Canyon Ferry. You could find Warren and Rosemary out on the lake fishing until the school bus went by.

Dad could and did fix anything and everything. He set a great example and was a great teacher to his children. He was in retail sales and was a supervisor at LP in Missoula for 20 years, where he retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Warren loved his family and he and Rosemary had seven children, sons Larry Sims (Karen), Brian, who preceded him in death, daughters Linda Sims, Pam Sims-Clapham (Jim), Paula Slater (Ray), Cathy Donaldson (Larry) and Chris Watson (Donny). They had 14 grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson, Dawn Petersen, Jodi Maddox, Lisa Funke, Angela Penninger, Andy Nichols, Amy Price, Jayson Slater, Mike Lloyd, Brady and Beau Donaldson, Larissa Bulau, Jessica and Byron Watson; and 16 great-grandchildren. Two great-grandchildren preceded him in death.

Warren had a full and interesting life and his friends and family will miss him greatly.

A Rosary will be held on Friday, April 22, at 7 p.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bonner with a Mass on Saturday, April 23, at 11 a.m. and a luncheon to follow.

Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home.
