Walter Philip Lore, 70, of Clinton, passed away Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at Riverside Health Center after a short bout with cancer. The world has lost a wonderful rodeo cowboy.
Walt was born on March 3, 1944, in Woodbury, New Jersey, to Harry and Mary Lore. He started rodeo at the age of 15, at the Cowtown Arena. He was an old-time, six-event rodeo cowboy and a member of the IRA and the PRCA. Walt attended rodeos all over the United States. Once he even won all six events at one rodeo. Oh my! He lived and breathed rodeo.
In 1965, Walt married Barbara Garrison. They had three children together, Duane Lore, Shawn Lore and Deborah Lore. Walt was preceded in death by Barbara.
Walt came to Montana in 1995, fell in love with it, made it his home and stayed. He made friends everywhere he went and he always had a smile and a laugh. If you were to ask him how he was, he would tell you, "Perrrfect." Walt was an excellent rock mason, a carpenter, a damn good camp cook and quite the dancer. Walt will be missed by many friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held at Poor Henry's in Clinton, potluck style on Sunday, March 8, at 1 p.m.
