Obituary for Walter LaPrade

MISSOULA - Walter Charles LaPrade was born December. 29, 1946, in Roanoke,Va., and died Saturday, January. 10, 2009, in his home with his loving wife and soulmate June LaPrade.





He is survived by son Timothy LaPrade; daughter Stephanie Davis; and step-children John Grzogorek, Thelma Ashby and Floid McFarlane.





He served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Harry E Yarrell.





Walter was a community-minded person who created the tool lending library on the Northside, and worked with MUDD to create the community gardens on River Road, as well as helping build the park at Lowell School.





Walter was a spiritual man who found much peace in nature and in gardening. He was a nurturing man to all living things. He spent much of his life writing about his journey. He and his wife were committed to helping the homeless with shelter and food.





Internment for Walter will be at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery. A memorial will be held April 18, at his home.
