– Wally Hertel, 95, of Missoula, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Grizzly Peak.
He was born Jan. 20, 1919, in Fargo, N.D. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a navigator.
He spent his young adult life in Walla Walla, Wash., until moving to Las Vegas. In 1995, he moved to Missoula with his wife Pauline. The last years of his life were spent at Grizzly Peak.
He loved golf, poker and music.
Survivors include daughter, Sandy Klavano; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and longtime friend, Connie O'Conner.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, at the Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery. A small gathering will take after the ceremony at Paradise Falls.
