Virginia M. "Ginny" Winz

Virginia M. "Ginny" Winz, 84, of Missoula, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at Community Medical Center from pneumonia.

Ginny was born on Nov. 15, 1931, in Missoula, to Robert arid Anna Touchette. She lived Frenchtown with her family. She graduated from Frenchtown High School where she participated in various activities.

In 1950, she married Gerald "Choc" Winz in Missoula. The couple lived in Missoula until Choc passed away in 1996.

Ginny enjoyed gardening, raising roses and camping – Rock Creek was her favorite!

Ginny loved her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She took great pride in her home and yard. She loved her roses and was happy to show them off. Ginny made many friends while working in the school district for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Choc; her parents, Robert and Anna Touchette well as her brothers, Bob Touchette and Bill Touchette.

Survivors include her three sons and their families, Doug (Karen) and granddaughter Madison of Missoula, Mike (Barb) and grandson Justin of Missoula, and Gary and granddaughter Carly of Washington. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Irene Touchette and various nieces and nephews.

The celebration of life service for Ginny will be Saturday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at Garden City Funeral Home, followed by a reception.

The family would like to give special thanks and much appreciation to Village Health Care for their wonderful support of Virginia during her last year as it became her residence. The family would especially like to thank the staff (some of which came to the hospital to visit in her final hours). They worked so hard to make her stay there safe and comfortable. The family would also like to thank Community Medical Center for "Hilda's Room" that allowed Ginny and her family more comfort in passing.

In lieu of flowers, consider a memorial in her name to the Missoula Aging Services.
