Obituary for Virginia M. Roat

Virginia Roat, 83, of Alberton, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her family.

They eventually moved to their final home in Alberton, where she ran the Silver Grill Cafe for years and Hank ran Chet's Bar.

She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed collecting angels, traveling with her beloved Hank, crocheting, crossword puzzles and doting on her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Henry and family from Temple, Texas, Tom from Stevensville, and Les and family from Alberton; along with daughter Denise from Alberton, who cared for her during her final time, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband Hank, daughter Rae Ann, and granddaughter Erica.

A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, Oct. 20, in Alberton at the River Edge Steakhouse starting at 2 p.m with Pastor Phil Taylen speaking.
