Violet R. Melton

Violet R. Melton (Vi) earned her angels wings and took flight, passing away peacefully, at her
home, surrounded by her loving family on April 24, 2015.
She was born on August 26, 1941 to Thomas J. and MaeBelle (Patterson) Ferrel in Omaha, NE.
She married the love of her life, Douglas J. Melton on June 15, 1958 and together they raised 10
children.
Mom was the most awesome wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was a very
strong, caring and giving person. She was a fill-in mom, providing a "safe haven" for many;
because being a loving mother came so naturally to her. Mom was always there to lend a helping
hand to anyone in need; her heart was made of gold; she had no idea, throughout her life, of the
positive influence she had in many people's lives and the major impact she made on them; she is
going to be terribly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband Doug Melton at the family home, and children Iona Metcalf
(Bob), Vicki McDonald (Jim), Patty Weilenman (Rich), Linda Dalzell (Rob), Sharon Maedche
(Dean), Kristy Tripp (Ben), Doug Melton (Michele), Dale Pearce, Dan Melton (Susanne), sister
MaeBelle Pence, 28 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, her constant companion and fur
baby Misty and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter Debra
Melton, her parents and siblings.
At her request, there will be a private graveside service and a Celebration of Life at a future date.
