Obituary for Viola M. Tanner

Viola Mae Tanner, 89, of Arlee, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at St. Patrick Hospital of natural causes.

She was born on Aug. 12, 1925, in Missoula to Ray and Mae Doney.

She lived her whole life in the Arlee area and was a lifetime member of the Arlee Senior Citizens.

On Sept. 10, 1943, she married Harold E. Tanner, and they made their home north of Arlee.

She spent several years as a waitress, while raising pigs, gardening and working with Harold as a full-time companion. In 1945, a son, Rex, was born to them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marvin; granddaughter, Lindie Vanek; and great-grandson, Nate.

Survivors include her husband, Harold of Arlee; son, Rex (Peggy) of Missoula, his son Rick Tanner (Shevawn) and their children; Lindie Vanek's sons of Minnesota; sister, Dorothy Douglas; brother, Gordon Doney; along with other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

No services will be held at her request. Cremation has taken place. A memorial is planned for later this summer.
