Vincent David Bertoglio, 31, of Missoula, passed away at his home Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014.
Vincent was born in Missoula on April 8, 1982, to Bruce Bertoglio and Eileen (Pickens-Bertoglio) Rutherford. As a boy, student and young man, Vincent participated and excelled in baseball, football, wrestling and track and field. He was happiest in the mountains hunting and fishing with his father, brother and close friends. He appreciated what Montana offers through nature's experiences – time enjoying the family cabin on Georgetown Lake, hunting the mountain ridges and cottonwood draws outside of Missoula and Dillon, casting a lure in Fish Creek or Beavertail Pond and steelhead fishing in Orofino, Idaho, rafting the Clark Fork and riding the waves of Alberton Gorge, snowboarding Lost Trail and Discovery, as well as hanging out with people closest to him to beat them at Buck Hunter.
Vincent was blessed with handsome strength of stature, emotional brown eyes, and a smile and laugh that drew people to quickly notice and love him. He had a very giving heart, always being the first person to offer help. He naturally showed kindness and love to family and friends, easily forgave through understanding, and quickly identified truth in most situations. Vincent had the innate ability to know how things worked, how to fix them, and how to make it right; the best job was a job well done.
Vincent and Jordanne Starkel met in middle school and became each other's life love and life partner. Vincent was vice president of Pool/Spa Service & Supply, working side-by-side and learning the business for most of his young and adult life from his father and with his older brother. Jordanne is manager of Diamond Jim's.
Survivors include Vincent's father Bruce Bertoglio of Missoula; mother Eileen (Pickens-Bertoglio) Rutherford and stepfather Gregory Rutherford formerly of Missoula and currently of Boise, Idaho; brother Adrian Bertoglio of Missoula; brother Rex Rutherford formerly of Missoula and currently of Boise; sister Gracy (Rutherford) Castleman formerly of Missoula and Boise, and currently of Goldsboro, N.C.; life partner Jordanne Starkel of Missoula; and son Austin Fifield-James, formerly of Missoula and currently of Billings; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins living in Montana and overseas. Vincent is now with his grandparents, Henry "Hank" Bertoglio of Butte, Myrtle (James-Bertoglio) Buls of Butte and Missoula, and Harold Pickens of Missoula.

Broadway in Missoula, officiated by Chaplain Dan Dixson. A reception will be held immediately after the service at Garden City Funeral Home.
