Vernita J. Leake

Vernita Jane Leake, 91, of Missoula, Montana, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula following a brief illness.
Vernita was born January 23, 1931 in Portsmouth, Iowa, the youngest child of Clair and Orpha Galiher. At the age of 18, she married Ralph Leake and to their union four children were born. Ralph and Vernita celebrated 56 years of marriage before his death in 2005. In the early 1970’s she and Ralph received Jesus as their personal savior. This has left the family content with their eternal destiny.
Vernita liked to be home and took great pride in raising a beautiful family caring for her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her Christlike attitude and great cooking.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Gregory Leake of Missoula, Loran (Linda) Leake of Missoula, and Barry (Donna) Leake of Florida; seven grandchildren: Tawnie, Austin, Dyllan, Michaela, Laurie, Andrew and Loran Jr.; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clair and Orpha; her daughter Beverly Pompa; and all of her siblings.
