Vera Vaughn Arvish, 93, of Missoula, MT, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018, at St. Patrick Hospital.
She was born August 19, 1924 in Missoula to Norman and Minnie Vaughn. Her first five years were spent on a ranch on Rock Creek at the the base of the Skalkaho Mountains. Her parents and older sister then moved to the Big Hole Valley. She attended grades one to four in a one room school. The family then moved to Anaconda, MT. She graduated from Anaconda High school. On December 22, 1942, she married Andrew Joseph Arvish. Andy’s career with the Forest Service took them to many ranger districts in Montana and Idaho. During that time they happily raised their four daughters. Vera and Andy retired in Orofino, Idaho. She was an active member of PEO, Hospital Auxiliary, Hospice, and Orofino Peck Cavendish United Methodist Church and UMW.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Andy, and two sisters, Ida Mae Stone and Edna Bacon.
Survivors include her four daughters Bonnie (Gary) Farnum, Bonner, MT, Andrea (Steve) Speer, Coeur d’Alene, ID, Connie Amburn, Sparta, NC, and Eileen (Don) Christie, Lake Havasu City, AZ, two granddaughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Ward of Seattle, WA and Emily (Paul) Heffner of Denver, CO, four great grandchildren, Zachary and Vera Mae Ward and Jennifer and Paul Heffner.
A memorial service is planned in Orofino, Idaho in the spring.
