– Our beloved son lost his battle with depression on Dec. 26, 2013. "I will not go quietly into the night" ... and anyone who knew Travis knew that he seldom went quietly into anything! He used to laughingly quote his favorite mantra:
"My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night
"But ah, my foes, and oh my friends
It gives a wonderful light."
– Edna St. Vincent Millay
Travis' life may have been short but he put more adventure into his 39 years than most will in a lifetime.
He attended Rattlesnake School and Hellgate High School, where he enjoyed football and was passionate about wrestling. His best times were spent hunting, fishing and mountain climbing with his brothers and friends. After graduating from the University of Montana, he was accepted at the University of Denver law school. After a year and a half, he dropped out and headed abroad to try and use his degree in teaching English as a second language in Seoul, South Korea.
In Seoul, 2002, he also met the love of his life, Yun-hee Cho, a beautiful woman both inside and out, who was just finishing her degree at the University of Seoul. From then on, they were inseparable and traveled everywhere. There were many tumultuous, crazy and scary adventures.
After Yuni became a U.S. citizen, the first thing she wanted to see was Yellowstone Park. This was her favorite memory. The night before they left, she broke her leg in a fall. We felt so bad for them until the next morning they said, "We are GOING to Yellowstone!" Undaunted Travis carried her from monument to monument, taking pictures of every geyser.
Many of Trav's favorite memories were of spending time with his beloved brother, Dusty, up at the cabin with family and friends, always competing for the biggest fish. Marisa, Dustin's wife, joined the family and absolutely "completed" the family, not only with her loving ways but by bringing Haley Anderson into our lives who, at 5 years old, is our shining star.
Travis was preceded in death by his godparents, Sam and Gladys Marek, and his grandparents, Alice and Ray Gold. From a previous marriage, he is survived by his son Spencer Anderson, whom he loved so much. Travis is survived by his wife, Yun-hee Cho. He is also survived by George Anderson (Ginny), Stephanie Anderson and husband Tony Croonenberghs with whom Trav shared a few memorable hunting trips near the Wise River. Also survived by his incredible brother Dustin (Marisa) and niece Haley. Travis is also survived by an older brother, Dallas, and nephew MacGregor Anderson. "Hey, Scrubs!" There are so many people to mention because obviously he left us too early: aunts and uncles Joey Driscoll (Tom), Susan Harrison (Patrick) and Bill Sterling (Candace).
Travis, be at peace and know that you are free. Your family and friends will miss and love you forever, every single day, my child – every single day. A special and heartfelt thank you to Aunt Sharon and Veji for always being there for us
