Timothy Wayne Nolan, 67, of Missoula, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015.
He was born Dec. 22, 1947, in Abilene, Texas, to Robert and Gretta Shaffer Nolan. The family moved to Englewood, Colorado, when Tim was 4 months old. He graduated from Englewood High School and attended Metro College in Denver. Tim enlisted in the Navy and served stateside, mostly in San Diego.
He married Jane Wagner in 1972. They moved to Missoula, where they had three daughters, Kira, Dani and Kelly. Tim and Jane divorced in 1992 but remained very good friends. Tim learned his painting skills from his grandfather and stepfather. He also taught these skills to his daughters. Kira painted with her dad for a few years. His painting skills became known throughout the Missoula area. His business, Nolan Painting, was very successful.
Tim was very athletic and enjoyed playing racquetball, golfing, snow skiing and rafting. He had an annual pass to Snow Bowl ski area. He also enjoyed traveling to Mexico, Hawaii and visiting friends throughout the U.S. In his 30s, his "adventure" name was Armando T (top of the) Mountain. His yard and garden were his pride and joy. His tomatoes were wonderful.
He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Larry. Survivors include his father; brother, Richard Nolan of Denver; daughters, Kira Nolan, Dani (Jim) Kinard and Kelly (Joe) Wasson; and grandchildren, Tyson, Cyrus, Rhys, Gracen, Lexie, Cameron, Olivia, Hunter and Isaiah. He made a chug for the grandkids and they took turns driving it in the St. Patrick's Day parade each year.
A celebration of his life and potluck will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the American Legion Hall, 825 Ronan St., in Missoula. He was the life of the party, so let's have a great party for him.
