Thomas E. Magee, Jr., 61, of Victor, MT, passed away at home on February 8, 2017. Born in Missoula, Tom was the eldest son of Thomas E. and Annie M. (Thomas) Magee, Sr.
Tom—or Timmy, depending on how long you knew him—grew up in Missoula. He attended Jefferson Annex, C.S. Porter schools and was a high school graduate of Sentinel High. Tom felt most at home in the woods, where he spent the majority of his career hooking, sawing, skidding and hauling logs. And if you had the pleasure of camping in the woods with him, you could assure you would have the best campfire, lots of wood and
lots of food.
Tom was a great story teller, and whether or not you were in the room or just near by, you heard his bellowing voice. He was a great cook and credits much of his cooking skills from watching his mother and Grandma Thomas in the kitchen.
He was a great animal lover and learned from his mother that if you can't spoil your pet, you shouldn't have them. His two miniature daschunds, Oscar and Daisy, were the lucky recipients of a kennel warmed with a heater and too many treats. They were his constant sidekicks and were with him until the end.
Tom is survived by his wife, Joann, two step-daughters, Sarah (Colin) of Bedford, NS, and Ashley (David) of Dundee, Scotland; step son, Thomas (Louise) of Timberlea, NS; three granddaughters, Helen, Rachel and Claire, all of NS; two brothers, James and Allen (both of Missoula); three nephews, Nicholas of Spokane, John (Jessica) and Brandon of Missoula; niece LeAnne (Joe), Pocatello, ID; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tom's big, kind, loving heart will be greatly missed. A cup of tea will never be the same.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2pm at Garden City Funeral Home followed by a reception.
Donations can be made to a local AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) chapter.
