Obituary for Thomas A. "Tom" Derry

Thomas Arthur Derry (Tom) of Alberton passed away February 18th at home from lung cancer. He was born March 1st 1934 in Colorado Springs, CO. When he was 17, he married the love of his life Mickey Van Patten. Over the years, they resided in San Diego, CA, Everett, WA & Alberton, MT. Tom was a manager and clerk at several Ernst Hardware Stores in the Everett and Seattle Area. Tom loved the outdoors whether it was working in the woods, plowing driveways on his tractor, working in the garden or feeding the birds and deer. He loved helping people! He was active in the Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas E Derry and Elizabeth McDermott his sister Dora Fraser and son, Stephen Derry. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mickey, Son Thomas Derry (Lisa), daughters, Catherine Mathistad and Eileen Hutter (Doug) grandchildren Rose Hutter and Matthew Hutter and Christina Derry; best friend Ted Soldowski (with whom he liked to shoot his miniature cannon). A vigil will be held on Tuesday February 24 at 7PM and Celebration of Life Wednesday February 25 at 11 AM both services will be held at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 1475 Eaton Street, Missoula, MT. Memorials may be made to Blessed Trinity Catholic Church Memorial fund or the American Cancer Society.
