Terry "Michael" Bowers, 78, of Bozeman and formally Missoula, left this world on September 12, 2015, due to natural causes.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joanne; his daughter, Ryan, her husband, Alanka; his two grandchildren, Piper and Bridger, and his son, Jonathan. He is also survived by his sister, Ellen and his brother Greg.
Mike was born on March 28, 1937, in Marceline, Missouri to Herbert E. and Marjorie E. Bowers.
He drifted through school and found his way into the U.S. Army where he served honorably for two years. The rest of his life was spent working in numerous jobs to including as an electrician and a small engines repair mechanic.
Mike always loved Montana and in 1978, finally returned for good. He raised his children in Missoula and taught them to love Montana just as he always had. This meant fishing on the Clark Fork and Frenchtown Pond, picnicking on the Blackfoot and camping at Seeley Lake.
As a voracious reader and music lover, Mike instilled a lifelong appreciation for music and reading in both of his children. During their childhood, both children could be found listening to old records and singing along to ABBA, Jethro Tull and The Beatles. It is importnat to note that his daughter still loves ABBA and his son still loves Jethro Tull!
During the summer months Mike and his family made numerous trips to the local library for more books to read.
Mike was a skilled artist and used many differnt mediums to document his world.
Whether pen and ink or watercolors, all of Mike's art tells the story of the life that he lived. His art grew to eventually encompass woodworking, the restoration of old cars and poetry.
There will be no services just as Mike requested. The final chapter has been penned and the life of Mike Bowers was well lived. He was loved and he will be forever missed.
