Tekla Nicole McKain Zavala

Tekla Nicole McKain Zavala, 17, of Missoula, MT passed away suddenly the morning of Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Missoula.
Tekla was a vibrant young woman, with her heart on her sleeve and hair as vivid as her personality. The light of her life was her daughter Jortek “Jordy” who she cherished. Her life was filled with family. She was a devoted sister and always had her sister’s and brother’s backs. Tekla was great at making a quick meal and her siblings note they will miss her quesadillas, they say they were the best.
Tekla was currently enrolled at Hellgate High School and leaves behind many friends. When she had downtime Tekla loved to be at the skate park and skateboarding/cruising, where she was well known by many. She loved to listen to music, play guitar and once, she even started a band “The Sans”, with some of her best friends. Tekla was obsessed with “Hello Kitty” and the color pink! She was a jokester and her sense of humor will be missed.
Left to mourn her death are her daughter Jortek; mother and step-father Michelle and Gabe Zavala; siblings: Dakota, Gabe Jr., Payton, Colisa, and Kayzee; grandparents Carlos Combs and Shannon Skeirik; many, many aunts, an uncle, several cousins and numerous extended family and friends; and her partner and Jordy’s dad Jordan Armijo.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Leta Louise “Weaselcat” Smith.
A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022 from 3:00-5:00 pm at the Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.
