Tegan Wallace-Batt

February 2, 2009 — June 24, 2024

Tegan James Wallace-Batt 15, of Missoula, tragically passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024.

He was born February 02, 2009, in Missoula to Sara and Brian. He brought so much love and joy into the world when he arrived. As a very little boy he was always singing and dancing. 2.5 years later he would become a big brother when Grayson arrived and again 3 years later with the arrival of Easton. He was the first born through and through. He was a natural leader. He has been competitive his whole life and hates to lose at anything. Whether that was hoops in the driveway against “the old woman” (mom) or Monopoly at summer camp against his team mates. He might not tell you all the rules of a game he is teaching you until he needs it. Or he might try and get you to agree to an alternative set of rules for his advantage. He was adventurous and willing to try new things. He was funny, loving and compassionate. It would be easy to write a novel about him despite the shortness of his life. But no words can do him justice. If you knew him, you know that you were blessed.

Tegan attended K-3 grades at Clinton Elementary. Then he attended 4th-8th Grades at Bonner Elementary. He had just completed Freshman year at Hellgate High School.

Tegan’s life goals varied from being a professional video gamer, NBA Basketball player, Lego set designer with his best friend Taj or something in Business making lots of money. The constant was he had big dreams. There is no doubt he had the ambition and indomitable spirit to make one of those a reality.

In the fall of 2015 Tegan started a journey with Sara and Grayson (later joined by Easton) that would forever change his life and ours. He started training in Taekwondo at Championship Training. Taekwondo would evolve into a passion for Tegan. It was incredible to watch him not only grow as an athlete but as a person. He gained more skills and knowledge with each passing year, as well as confidence. In April 2023 he tested and earned his 1st Dan Black Belt. He showed incredible perseverance during that process. Over the past 9 years he started competing locally, then regionally and now Nationally. He has had some incredible opportunities through Taekwondo. He has met and trained with former Olympians, current Olympians both from the US and Spain, National teams from Europe to Puerto Rico, Coaches from the Dominican Republic and top coaches from across the US. He loved being able to do all those things. But even more he valued the life long friendships and community Championship Training brought into his life. He was Junior Instructor for the past few years. He cared so much about helping those young athletes not just develop in the sport but also as people. Most car rides home he regaled us with tales from classes that day.

He proceeded in death by Grandma Paula, Great Grandpa Bob and Great Grandma Jo. Aunt Vanessa, Nana Johnna, Great Grandpa Ron and Great Grandma Darlene.

Survivors Include His Mother Sara, Brothers Grayson and Easton, Papa Wallace. Uncle Bob (Angie) Wallace, Cousins Cayden and Deacon of Illinois. Father Brian Batt, Grandpa Mark Batt, Uncle Mikey Batt. Cousins Cody and Ethan of Washington. Numerous Extended family members. His Championship Training Family.
