Theodore (Ted) Moore
Surrounded by loved ones, Theodore (Ted) Moore left this world to answer a higher calling on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at St. Patrick's Hospital, just in time to celebrate his favorite holiday with old St. Pat himself.
The son of a prestigious career military man, Ted was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on October 2, 1959, to Evelyn and Lt. Col. John Lindsay Moore, Sr. being the youngest of four sons, Ted was never without strong role models.
After graduating from Lakeland High School, Ted promptly enlisted in the U.S. Army where he reached the rank of SP4 as he served proudly as a marksman and sharpshooter in the infantry.
In 1979, Ted moved back to Idaho to attend North Idaho College. While there he met his future wife and mother of his children, Katherine Ann King. After a whirlwind romance, the two were married on December 21, 1981. Then it was off to Boise, where they began their life together. On January 5, 1983, the couple was blessed with their first son, Ryan Lindsey Moore. On May 23, 1987, the family was made complete with the arrival of a second son, Kevin Thomas Moore. Ted studied music at BSU for a short while, but it didn’t take long for a hammer to permanently affix itself into the young carpenter's hand.
He was a man of many talents. In his youth, he excelled at golf, skiing, wrestling, and horseback riding. One of his most cherished childhood friends was his horse, Penny. Ted was also a faithful and exuberant fan of the Oakland Raiders.
Ted also faced heartache in his life. When Ted was eight his brother, Douglas Moore, died tragically in a car wreck. A few years later, Ted lost his mother, Evelyn. John Moore, Sr. passed away September 28, 2001. The biggest blow came in 2005 with the loss of his youngest son, Kevin Moore. By then, Ted had lost not only his son, but his marriage as well.
After that, he spent years helping friends and family and rebuilding his life. He lived with his niece and nephew, Angel and Charlie Charlebois and their respective families. As well as spending time with his brothers, John and David Charlebois. His brother from another mother, Jacob Marquez, was never far from his heart or mind.
His final move was to Missoula. He began working for Missoula Housing Authority in 2012. That same year his prayers for companionship were answered when he met Erika Koskela. In each other they found their happiness, and they were instantly inseparable.
Ted is survived by his loyal son Ryan, his adoring wife Erika Koskela and her children, nieces and nephew Charles and Jackie Charlebois, Angel Charlebois, their children Shawn, Shea, Annie, Lilly, Matthew, Christopher, Charley Joe, and Jackson Theodore, brothers John and David Charlebois, nieces Janelle Slavik, Erika Noone, and Stacie Charlebois, and former wife Katherine Brockhoff.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Monday, April 3rd at the Unity Church of Missoula. Graveside services will be at the Whitefish Cemetery at 2pm on Saturday, May 20th.
