Ted Jerrell

Ted Jerrell passed away very suddenly Friday, May 13, 2016, at Community Medical Center. Just the week prior he had been in the hospital and had emergency surgery that almost took him from us. We were given a gift of two more weeks to share with him. During that time our pastor came by. Ted loved our Pastor Daniel from Atonement Lutheran Church here in Missoula. Ted told him he was at peace, as he felt the power of prayer for the first time surround and carry him through his surgery and recovery. He told him then he was not afraid of death, as the Holy Spirit was in him.

Ted graduated from Hellgate High School in 1967, and served in the Airborne Special Forces of the Army National Guard. He was a fabulous chef, graduating from culinary school with an associate degree. During his recent retirement, he gave his time to Meals on Wheels and his church. He was a board member at Atonement Lutheran and served as the liaison for the Caring and Sharing Team and also the Family Promise program.

Ted was a kind, forgiving person with a wild sense of humor. He loved his family and cats. He enjoyed camping, fishing and recreating all over Montana and the neighboring states. The Sonoma Coast, wine country and Las Vegas were some of his favorite places to go with his wife.

He was born in Missoula on Aug. 3, 1948, to Lois and Ed Jerrell, and resided in the Missoula area his entire life. He married his beloved wife and partner, Priscilla, on May 6, 1978, and they had two sons.

He was preceded in death by son Keith and his mother Lois.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; son Nate/Katie, grandson Phillip, and cousins Skip/Sheena, Kristie and Sally/Kendall/Martin of Montana; his in-laws, John/Diane of New Jersey and Doug/Joyce of Wyoming; and cats, Ripley and Riley Jones.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 19, at Atonement Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel Disch officiating. A reception to follow at the church.
