Ted Duane Dagel, 78, of Missoula was freed of all his pain, and passed away peacefully at home, Monday, Sept. 28, 2015.
As the fourth of six children, Ted was born in Cutbank to Wayne and Amanda Dagel. The family moved to Helena, where he graduated from Helena High School in 1956 continuing on to proudly serve in the National Guard for several years.
On July 1, 1961, Ted married the love of his life, Jere Finstad whom he had known for 15 years prior and spent the next 54 years with hand in hand.
Ted was a member of the Elks Club and bowling league in Helena, but his great passion for Oldsmobile's and appreciation for antique cars lead him to become one of the founding members of Garden City Rods & Customs in Missoula.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, going camping, fishing, wood working, making special projects for loved ones, and going to car shows, especially ones that involved his 1938 Oldsmobile, restored to award winning status by his son.
Ted was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Dagel; mother Amanda Dagel; sister Corrine Edwards and brother Marvin Dagel.
Survivors include his wife, Jere Dagel; son Kevin Dagel (Svea) of Kirkland, Washington; daughter Tina Galahan (Walter) of Frenchtown; four grandchildren, Chance, Trayce, Amanda, Chelsey and two great-grandchildren, Pate and Maggie; sisters Carol VanDeKop of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Marge Laughlin of Idaho Falls and brother Gary Dagel of Sutherlin, Oregon, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering will be held at the Dagel home on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 1 to 5 p.m. located at 2200 S. Fifth St. W. No. 6. Messages of condolence may sent to missoulafuneralhomes.com.
