Sylvia G Gilliam

Sylvia Grosfield Gilliam passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at the age of 84.

Born Oct. 30, 1933, in Billings, Sylvia was the oldest of six children. Sylvia grew up in Big Timber. When she was in high school the family moved to Lincoln and Sylvia opted to remain in Big Timber to graduate with her class. Sylvia graduated from Eastern Montana College and became an elementary teacher.

In 1957, Sylvia married Keith Stebbins. The couple had three children. The family settled in Belgrade where Sylvia taught third and fourth grade.

After the passing of her husband, Keith Stebbins, in 1989, Sylvia married John Gilliam in 1990. John and Sylvia lived in Missoula and enjoyed spending summers at their cabin in Lincoln.

Sylvia is survived by her husband John, her three children, Mark Stebbins (Karen) Hilo, Hawaii, Kari Jenkins (Ken) Boise, Idaho, and Robert Stebbins (Debbie) Lolo. Sylvia is also survived by two granddaughters, Laura Jenkins and Sarah Stebbins.

Sylvia will be missed by many and fondly remembered by all. She was known as a kind woman who put her family first.

A service is planned for Saturday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m., Atonement Lutheran Church, Missoula, MT.
