Obituary for Sylva Christ

ALBERTON – Sylva Christ quietly slipped from this world on September 15, 2013 from diabetes complications at 93 years of age.
Sylva was born in Alberton, Montana on August 20th, 1920 as the middle daughter of Harry Winfield and Bertha Elleanor (Reeves) Brasch. She grew up there and in Avery, Idaho along with her sisters Hazel Zelda and Faith Elleanor.
After graduating from Alberton High School in 1937 she moved to Seattle and attended University of Washington. While there, she played the clarinet in the UW marching band and worked at the Tea Room of the Bon Marche.
In 1941, Sylva married Earl Misenar. To this union were born Neal, Pamela and Colin. After their divorce, Sylva returned to Alberton with her 3 young children. She was hired as a telegrapher for the Milwaukee Railroad. She then met and in 1952 married young telegraph operator Ralph Christ. They settled in Deer Lodge where Charlie and Fred joined the family. They relocated to Alberton in 1955 and Elizabeth completed their family.
Alberton has remained Sylva's home even during 20 years of wintering in Arizona. She was always fiercely loyal to Alberton, Alberton School, the Milwaukee Railroad and the NY Yankees. She was proud to have been born, raised and raised her family in the same home on Rosehill. While raising her family (six angels) she joined PTA, Milwaukee Womens Club, Elections Board and changed careers for a period of time to become a postal worker. Sylva collected music boxes, played piano and cut the hair of her sons and several neighbor boys. She loved hosting large family dinners as well as baking pies, cakes and other goodies.
Sylva was preceded in death by husband Ralph, father Harry, mother Bertha, and sisters Zelda & Faith. She is survived by her sons Neal (Barb) Misenar, Colin (Sandi) Misenar, Charlie Christ, Fred (Ruth) Christ and daughters Pamela Misenar and Elizabeth Christ. Her surviving 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren always brought her joy. She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Missoula. A service will be held in the spring to celebrate Sylva's life, including a gathering of family and friends. Condolences can be sent to the Christ Family at P.O. Box 265, Alberton, MT 59820.
