Susan Hogan

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Susan Elizabeth Hogan (Rich). Our beloved mother, Nana and friend, passed away October 17, 2024, at 60 years old. Susan gained her angel wings peacefully at her home in Missoula, Montana.

Susan was born December 10, 1963, to Leslie and William Rich in Missoula, where she would forever call home. She had one brother Billy. They were the best of friends and loved growing up together.

Susan graduated from Sentinel High School and attended Votech.

She met Shawn Hogan and they were married for a short time. They welcomed Susan's first born, Ashley, in 1988. Susan went on to have two more boys, Nathan and Matthew. Her children were her life, she worked day and night as a single mom to provide for them. She was the best mom and always available to her children.

Her children are so grateful to her and know raising them on her own was hard and a great sacrifice. But she never complained about it and cherished being our mom. She was our hero.

In 2006 Susan met the love of her life, Jeff Gill. She quickly welcomed him and his children into her family and they spent the past 18 years together. Jeff cared deeply for Susan and her children. He was a dad to them and a loving partner for their mom.

The later years of Susan's life were filled with love and adventure. Her favorite things were Griz football, the Chargers, concerts, crosswords, family barbecues and sharing memories of the good ol' days. 80s music was always being played and there was always a laugh to be had.

Susan and Jeff's greatest joy was welcoming their nine grandchildren in the last 12 years. They cherished being Papa and Nana.

In 2023 Susan took a trip to Hawaii. She loved the beauty and calmness of the island and had the time of her life adventuring outside of her comfort zone.

This loss has left a void in everyone's life that was blessed enough to know her. The stories of her will live on in the hearts of friends and family. She will forever be missed.

She is survived by her three children, Ashley, Nathan (Kaila) and Matthew; her love, Jeff Gill, his children, Kristin (Kevin), JD (Chelsey) Marissa(Sean) and Allyssa; her grandchildren Noah, Paizlee, Elijah, Adalee, Isaak, Aleigha, Lily, Harper and Avery; and her niece McKenzie.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents; her mother, Leslie; her father, William; brother Billy; Jeff's son, James; and many aunts and uncles.

A Memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Revive Church, 2811 Latimer Street, Missoula, MT.
