Obituary for Steven William "Wobbie" Benzschawel

Steven William "Wobble" Benzschawel, 53, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at his home. Steve was born July 6, 1961, in Buffalo, Minnesota, to parents Wilbur and Marlene Benzschawel.

He graduated from Maple Lake High School in Maple Lake, Minnesota, in 1979. He then went on to further his education at St. Cloud University in St. Cloud, Minnesota, for two years before completing his degree in Civil Engineering at Montana State University in Bozeman. GO CATS! After graduating from Montana State University in 1996, Steve chose to remain in Montana and purchased his own little piece of God's country in Lolo. At the time of his death he was employed by CH2MHILL as a Construction Engineer in the Aviation Services Division.

When Steve wasn't working, he enjoyed riding his Harley, jeeping in Moab, Utah, with friends, creating beautiful works of art in his shop, watching his beloved Minnesota Vikings and baking the most incredible pies. Although Steve enjoyed the fruits of his labor which was evident by his many "toys," he would have been the first to tell you that the most important things in life are not things at all, but the love of family and friends. His sharp wit, larger than life personality, boisterous laugh and love he felt for all those dear to him will truly be missed.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Marlene; grandparents, Joe and Anna Benzschawel and James and Alfreda Lengyel; along with many aunts and uncles.

Steve is survived by the love of his life, Kathy, and her two children, both serving in the United States Air Force; his father, Wilbur; three sisters, Connie, Charolyt and Trish and their husbands; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, especially his dear Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Art; seven nieces and nephews; 10 great nieces and great nephews; and six very special boys who lovingly referred to him as "Grandpa Lolo."

A celebration of Steve's life will take place at the Missoula International Airport on Saturday, Jan. 17, between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. in Jedediah's Restaurant.
