Missoula – Stephen Heinrich, 77, of Missoula passed away peacefully with his family at The Living Centre in Stevensville on October 8, 2016. He was born in Spokane Valley on October 20, 1938 to Frederick J. and Katherine A. Heinrich. He survived his loving wife of 38 years, Sharon Gallagher Heinrich, who passed away Dec 30, 1999.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter Scharri Bradshaw of Missoula and son Scott Heinrich of Seattle, son-in-law Mitch Bradshaw, daughter-in-law Christine Heinrich, and grandchildren Shawn Bradshaw, Tasha Bradshaw, Lincoln Heinrich and great granddaughter Aveline Bradshaw.
Stephen spent over 50 years in Missoula after serving in the Navy and returning home as a Veteran. He worked at Van Evans plywood and at Bonner for over 40 years to ensure a great life for his family. When he was younger, he enjoyed various outdoor activities including motorcycle riding, boating, fishing, camping, and hunting with his good friends and family. He did many of these things with his best friend Gene Stephens.
Later, he loved to attend activities and sporting events for his grandchildren. He was a very unselfish man and dedicated his life to his family. He was a great listener and always found time to help his children and grandchildren work through problems. No one enjoyed sweets more than Stephen and his nurses nicknamed him the “cookie monster”. He always had an appetite for a cookie and a Pepsi.
Memorial services will be held at 10am Saturday, October 15 at Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula followed by a reception. Private family burial of his cremated remains will be held at a later time. His family suggests memorials to the Senior Citizen Center of Missoula, Missoula County Humane Society, or Salvation Army – Missoula Corps.
