Stanley Marvin Vinion
August 7, 1926 - January 23, 2017
Stan 90, passed away peacefully at his home January 23rd.
He was born in Libby Montana to Ira and Mira (Carter) Vinion, the 2nd of 7 children. As a child his family moved to Fort Benton. Stan joined the Navy at 17 after graduating from high school and served until the war ended. He returned to Fort Benton and married Ruth Ratliff. Stan and Ruth were married 68 years and raised 3 children; Bonnie, Ron and Lorri. They lived in Great Falls and Havre for several years before moving to Missoula. Stan worked for Eddy's Bakery for 20 years and worked another 20 years for Buttrey’s before retirement. Always one to keep busy he also enjoyed driving for Bitterroot Motors for a number of years.
He was preceded in death by siblings Bill, Betty Rucker, and Kenneth. Stan also lost 2 beloved grandchildren Chloe Johnson-Vinion and Brent Crawford. He is survived by wife Ruth Vinion, daughters Bonnie Crawford, and Lorri Cates and son Ron Vinion (Teresa). Sisters Nancy Tonne (Will) and Sharon Wood (Dick) and brother Jim. Stan was very close to his grandchildren and delighted them with his sense of humor. Grandchildren Heather, Cole, Tyler and Jorri adored him. Stan also had 2 great granddaughter's Courtney and Hailey and 2 great-great granddaughters' in Virginia Beach as well as 5 other grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter in Chicago. Stan was a kind honorable man and loved by his family and friends. We are thankful to have had him for 90 years. In the Spring the family will have a Celebration of Stan's Life. We miss him already.
