Stan, 85, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016, at St. Patrick Hospital of heart failure.
He was born Oct. 18, 1930, in Seattle to Harry and Agnes (Wetsch) Slominski. Throughout his childhood his family operated meat markets within Montana and Washington settling in Missoula in the 1940s. Stan always had a job and often more than one, starting as a delivery boy for the meat markets at 8 years old and continuing through high school (Hellgate) at John R. Daily until he joined the Navy as a corpsman during the Korean War. Stan met his wife, Laura Mae Mason, while in high school. Married in 1951, they headed to San Diego where he was stationed and had their son, Michael.
After discharge from the Navy, they returned to the Missoula area, where Stan went to the university and worked for Northern Pacific Railroad. Shortly after Stan and Laura's return, daughters Lisa and Shelley were born. Always working and not one to ever sit still, Stan and Laura started their own logging/ranching company raising Arabian horses that were sold worldwide and were his pride and joy. Stan worked the ranch daily until the day he passed away, taking care of all of the creatures he met, large and small.
He never met a stranger and could be counted on to carry a handful of peacock feathers to give away. With a ready smile and sparkling blue eyes, Stan will be loved and missed by all of those who had the honor to meet him and by his loving family who will miss him forever!
Stan is survived by his loving wife, Laura Mae; his two brothers, Paul of Tacoma, Washington, and Johnny of (Bonner; son Michael (Jan) of California; daughters, Lisa Campbell (Roger) and Shelley Talatinian of Clinton; six grandchildren and seven-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Stan's life will be held at a later date – notification pending.
