Stanley Mila "Buc" Scheller

Stanley Milo "Bud" Schaller passed away Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

Bud was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, on July 12, 1936, and grew up in the Panhandle Mountains around Bonners Ferry and Umatilla, Oregon. He loved the mountains and the outdoors, and was very adept with all things mechanical. He married Mary Ula Dinning in Bonners Ferry in 1957. In 1962, he attended welding school in Pasco, Washington, where he received his welding certification and started work on the John Day Dam on the Columbia River.

He and Mary moved to Thompson Falls in 1964 to work for the Pack River Lumber Co., where they raised their three children. He coached Little League baseball for several years, built his first boat and rebuilt his home. His abilities allowed him to run his own machine repair shop, operate his own logging truck and enjoy many other endeavors. In 1997, he had a stroke, which slowed him down a bit, however he was able to pursue his hobbies of gunsmithing, woodworking and fabricating.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ula Schaller; Colleen and James Wilson (daughter); Paul and Kathy Schaller (son); Benjamin and Nicole Schaller (grandchildren); Steven and Dawn Schaller (son); Stacie and Chris McDowell (granddaughter); Lathe, Cassidy and Jessica (great-grandchildren); Rita and Eric Morris (grandaughter); Katrina and Aeris (great-granddaughters); Stanley Schaller and Jazmin Polanco (grandson); and Mitchell Schaller and Bailey Clark (grandson).

Graveside services will be held in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, at a later date. He will be greatly missed by all that loved him.
