- Stanley "Stan" Sanders, 71, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away May 31, 2014 after a long illness peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Stan was born April 6, 1943 to John and Ethel Sanders in Missoula, MT. Stan graduated from Missoula County High School and attended the University. He then joined the National Guard and served until he received a medical discharge. He worked at Missoula Concrete Construction until his retirement.
Stan married Virginia Ruth Reum in January of 1965. Stan and Ginny's love and faith for each other kept them dancing through the good and the bad for nearly 50 years. The couple brought two lovely children into the world, Shelley and Todd, who were the love of their lives. Stan was a great father who always made time to do things as a family. He took the family (including the dogs) to the lake, fishing, hiking and on camping adventures rain or shine! He and Ginny also enjoyed going to the Griz games. Stan especially loved being a grandpa and watching them grow. Stan also enjoyed hunting with his cousin and best friend, Fred Burgess who he loved very much.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents and numerous aunts, uncles and cousin, Darrell Ziesmer whom was close to him.
Stan and his big blue eyes will be missed by his loving wife, Ginny, who is very proud of him; his two children, Shelley Gallagher (Potlatch, Idaho) and Todd Sanders (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho); grandchildren RJ Gallagher, Mattie Sanders, Riley Sanders, Kallie Sanders; great-granddaughter Hadley Gallagher (all of Idaho); and numerous cousins and friends.
The family would like to send a special thank-you to Dr. Eric Kress for being by our side through the years, for the loving care of Partners-In-Homecare Hospice and for the kindness of the staff at Cremation and Burial Society of the Rockies.
