Obituary for Stanley Cooper

Stanley E. Cooper, 85, of Alberton, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016, at the Missouri River Center in Great Falls, of natural causes.

He was born on Aug. 17, 1930, in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Byron and Virginia Cooper. He attended schools in Sheridan and Casper, Wyoming. He joined the National Guard of Wyoming in September 1949 and served until May 1950. He enlisted in the United States Army in September 1951. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged June 1953.

Stanley married LouAnn Shaffer on Feb. 13, 1960, in Casper. They lived in Casper until he finished school at Casper Community College, earning a degree in computer programming. His work as a programmer took them to Las Vegas, Helena, Alberton and Gardner. They retired in Alberton.

Stan loved being a part of any community that he lived in. He always found ways to serve his church, friends and family. He constantly looked for needs and was often the first one to show up to help. He lead us by example and we are very thankful to have a husband/dad who loved us so greatly! As his doctor, Jenny Murney, stated, "Stan was a loyal and faithful man." Memory of his quick smile will always warm our hearts.

Stanley is survived by his wife, LouAnn; daughter Stanetta; son Greg (Vicki) and daughter Judy (Rick); grandchildren, Christopher, Martiza, Cole, Bryan, Sharaya, Kali, Joshua, and Shareena, and great-grandchildren, TJ, Blake, Chloé, and Evie. Also, siblings Florence, Robert, Alice and their families. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and seven siblings.

After a private family service at the Missoula Veterans Cemetery, there will be a memorial service at the Alberton Community Church, Monday, May 23, at 6 p.m. A dinner will be served following the service.

In memory of Stan, we ask that you be quick to smile and lend a helping hand.
