Shirley Jean McDonald

MISSOULA ~ Shirley Jean McDonald, 78, of Missoula, passed away Thursday June 1, 2023 at Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. 

She was born March 28, 1945 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Earl R and Geraldine U. (Harris) Smith.  Her family had moved to Missoula in 1950.  She married Joe McDonald on September 10, 1966.  He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Richard Johnston of Twin Falls, Idaho and David McDonald of Missoula; two grandchildren, Justin Johnston and Stephanie Sedlmayr; two great-grandsons, Quill Johnston and Roger (Kai) Sedlmayr; one sister, Josie Davidson of Sacramento, California and one brother, William J. Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Larry L. Smith.

Shirley had attended grade schools in Missoula and graduated from Missoula County High School in 1963.

She worked at GLR from April 8, 1974 until January 11, 2018.

Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula.
