Shelley Marie Hansen

Shelley Marie Hansen, 61 of Missoula, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at St. Patrick Hospital.

She was born on Nov. 29, 1954, to Herb and Pauline Mangels. Shelley attended grade school in Dodson. After the death of her mother in 1969 she moved to Malta to live with her aunt, Alice Watts and family where she graduated high school.

She moved to Missoula in 1973 where she attended St. Patrick Hospital School of Nursing. Shelley worked as an RN at St. Patrick Hospital for 28 years; retiring in 2010.

On May 4, 1991, she married Greg Hansen. In 1992 the couple moved into their current home on Butler Creek where they spent the next 24 years enjoying the wildlife, tending to their animals and planning and completing a continuous series of remodeling projects.

Shelley enjoyed gardening, crocheting, photography, socializing with her many friends, and most of all her many animals which over the years included cats, dogs, horses, fish and her beloved cockatoo (Molokai).

She is survived by her husband, Greg; two sisters, Stacey Mangels and Denise Taylor along with scores of nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews, and one great-grandnephew.

A memorial service will take place at Garden City Funeral Home on Monday, May 2, at 3 p.m. with a reception to follow in the funeral home's community room. Condolences for the family may be left at missoulafuneralhomes.com.
