Shawna Lee (Olsen) Stubb , 50, of Lolo, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 at her home, of sarcoma cancer.
She was born on October 12, 1963, in Portland, OR, to Olie and Patricia Olsen. As a young girl her family changed living locations, as her father was in the military. Then she, her mother and brother moved to Polson, where she attended junior high school. The three of them made one more move to Missoula, where she then attended Sentinel High School and graduated in 1981.
On July 30, 1982, she married Gary Stubb in Missoula. The couple lived in Missoula until 1991 and then moved to Lolo, where she began an in home daycare. She took care of many kids in her home until 2005. She and Gary separated in 2005 and she began a whole new chapter in her life and spent every moment possible with her children and grandchildren and was able to work in the medical field, which she loved.
She attended the U of M College of Technology for a short time in the 1980's and then returned in 2010 to begin nursing school. She was unable to complete the courses due to a brain tumor that was affecting her vision. She had to undergo massive surgery in Portland, OR to remove the tumor, which was noncancerous. After her healing, she was hired on at Community Medical Center as an ICU tech and loved her job. In October 2013, she was diagnosed with a sarcoma tumor on her hip and her lung. She began treatment and underwent surgery the beginning of January to remove the larger tumor on her hip. She was beginning her healing process and then began to decline and on February 13th she found out that her cancer had metastasized.
She was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, grandma, and friend, by making sure she put her family and friends first before herself. She loved to spend time with her family camping, scrapbooking and browsing antique stores.
Survivors include her mother Patricia Olsen, her three children, Jacob Stubb (Aimee), Chelsea Stubb, and Zachary Stubb, and one brother Drew Olsen, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with 2 grandchildren.
