– Sharon Kay Skinner, 73, of Lolo, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2016, at Community Medical Center, from complications of ovarian cancer. Her husband Bob, son Bryan, and daughter Rhonda were by her side.
Sharon was born March 23, 1943, in Seattle, Washington, to Alice and Chester Cramer. She was raised in West Seattle, graduating from West Seattle High in 1961. Sharon attended her 55th high school reunion in June of this year.
After high school, Sharon attended business school, then went to work for Boeing. She held many titles throughout her working years, including administrative assistant, real estate agent, and stay-at-home Mom. She retired from Battelle Northwest Labs, in Richland, Washington, where she was a lead administrative assistant, in 1995.
Sharon married Robert Jakkola in 1964. They had two children, Rhonda and Bryan. They later divorced.
Sharon married Robert Skinner in 1989 and gained two daughters, Sandi and Stacey, and a son Steve, along with their families. They lived in Richland then realized their dream of retiring to “The Farm” in Plains in 1995. In 2006 they moved into Missoula, then Lolo, to be closer to family. For the past several years, they enjoyed spending several weeks a year in their RV, visiting out-of-state friends and warmer climates.
Sharon’s hobbies included quilting, gardening, morning water aerobics and socializing at The Women’s Club. She thoroughly enjoyed spring and fall quilt retreats with her circle of friends, and would let nothing stop her from attending. Any occasion, birthdays, holidays, or just a Sunday afternoon, was a great reason for Sharon and Bob to host and enjoy big, extended family gatherings. Nothing made her happier than being around the people she loved, and all who knew her will miss her kindness and how she truly cared for everyone she met, which shone in her selfless devotion to others. She made calendars, birthday cards, quilts, scrubbies, and many other gifts to show her thought and love for all. Her smile lit up the room, she was wonderful to talk to, and her support in life was unwavering.
