Scott Wayne Hintz, 55, of Clinton, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at home surrounded by family and friends after battling cancer.
He was born on March 14, 1958, in Missoula, to James and Winnie Hintz. As a young boy he lived with his family in Piltzville and was educated in Bonner and Sentinel schools.
On July 4, 1989, he married Roberta in East Missoula. The couple lived there until they moved to Clinton in 1991. He was a jack-of-all-trades including sign installer, logging road builder, and heavy equipment operator until he started a very successful trucking company in 2005, Rides Transport, hauling cars.
He always put his family and friends before himself, under his tough guy image his generosity and love was endless. He enjoyed playing softball, working on cars, racing his jeep, NASCAR and tinkering in his shop. His hearty laugh was contagious. He was a practical joker, a barter king, and always had a tall tale to tell. Everyone he knew had a nickname. In his younger days he was known to raise a little hell and drink a little beer.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta; daughter Jamie (Jeremy) Lanktree; son Nick (Natasha) LaCasse; mother Winnie Zeller; three sisters, Diane (Stan) Smart, Jamie (Mark) Verworn and Kellie Hintz; brother Jay (Luanne) Hintz; grandchildren, Tatum, Brynn and Zane, along with many nieces and nephews. They all knew what the "lead finger" was. Scott will be missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place at Garden City Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at the Bonner School Gymnasium on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. with reception to follow
