Obituary for Sarah Beth Bryan

Sarah Brown Bryan passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018, after a three-year battle with lung, bone and brain cancer. She was at home and surrounded by loving friends and family.

Sarah was born May 10, 1961, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She attended Preble High School in Green Bay and then went to college at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. After college she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she lived for 17 years and worked in various professional offices as a paralegal or office manager.

She met Michael Bryan and they were married in June 1995. Sarah’s greatest desire was to be a mother and she had two children, Sam and Emma. The family moved to Missoula in 2001. She remained active in PEO (she was a member for almost 40 years), book clubs, church organizations, and she became a great “dance mom.” Sarah was her children’s biggest fan and supported them any way she could. Sarah became active in the Missoula Catholic Schools both as a volunteer and in a variety of other positions landing in her “dream job” as secretary of St. Joseph’s Elementary and Middle School where she worked until she became ill. Sarah made friends everywhere she went and positively influenced all who got to know her. Sarah was an avid Facebook user and she posted extensively to Facebook during her journey with cancer. She helped many people with her deep and personal posts with their expressions of grief, frustration, hope, and gratitude during her illness. She did not want her cancer to define her and lived her life to the fullest with the time she had.

Sarah is preceded in death by her mother Karin Brown.

She is survived by her father David Brown, brother Chris Brown, her husband Michael Bryan and her children Samuel and Emma Bryan.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to express deep thanks for the loving care provided by the Cancer Center at Providence St. Patrick’s Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7th, at Christ The King Church, 1400 Gerald Ave.
