– Sandra Gayle Tocci, 63, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, after a long illness. She was a bright light who brought laughter, kindness and generosity to her many friends and family members.
Sandy was born Dec. 29, 1953, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Lamar and Dorothy Roberts. She moved to Alberton in the 1970s and married Knute Tocci there in 1981. They moved to Portland, Oregon, and returned to Alberton after several years.
Gardening and plants were Sandy’s passion, and she could make anything grow. She worked in greenhouses in several states and also operated her own in Alberton. She created Innerscapes, a plant maintenance business with many clients in Missoula. Sandy served on the Alberton Town Council from 1994 to 2000, and as mayor of Alberton from 2000 to 2002. She also served on the Mineral County Planning board and the Frenchtown Fire Department board of trustees.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; her two infant sons, and by her daughter Emily Magnolia Ross. She is survived by her husband Knute; her granddaughter Mia Michelle Balich; her sister Trudy Cottone, and numerous other relatives.
There will be a service for Sandy on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Alberton. A reception will follow at the River Edge Resort.
