Sandra Ann Moen Miller, 78, of Missoula, passed away March 30, 2015, at the Village Health Care Center. She was born Feb. 14, 1937, in Wheeler, Montana, to Charles J. Day and Gladys G. Burke.
In 1940 Sandra and her mother moved to Glasgow, where Gladys met and married Roy O. Moen Sr. Sandra went on to finish her education in Williston, North Dakota, graduating from Williston High School. In 1955, the family moved to Billings, where she worked at Hart-Albin Co. for three years as a switchboard operator. She met Donald M. Miller, and they were married July 25, 1959. The family moved to Helena, where they lived for years and in July 1970 settled in Missoula.
She worked for several years at a local Farmers Insurance office. Sandra became a member of the Order of Eastern Star Electa Chapter No. 7, where she rose through the chairs devoting much of her time to become Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the Order of the White Shrine and was active in the Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.
Sandra enjoyed helping others anyway she could, and as part of Martha's Ministries for the last several years she knitted and crocheted various items that were donated to others. She also volunteered for the Radio Reading for the Blind; the comics were her favorite.
Nana, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always took pride in caring for her family, putting the needs of others first.
She is survived by her son, Fred (Angie) Miller of Chesapeake, Virginia; her daughter, Elaine (Bob) Brown of Missoula; sister, Trudy Chester of Billings; brother, David Moen of Huntley; grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Wilson, Amanda (Ricky) Cox, Bryan (Kathy) Miller, Justin, Tesla and Nichole; and great-grandchildren, Jessica, John, Julie, Kayleigh, Gabriel, Nicholas and Mikaila. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Roy A. Moen Jr.
Mother, we will always carry your memory in our hearts.
Our heartfelt thanks to Dave and Gerrie Diettrich for your strength, support and loving care these past years. Thanks to the caring staff at Community Cancer Center for all their support over the last seven years.
