Sandra D. Diamond went to heaven Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at the age of 75. She was born in London on Feb. 13, 1938.
Sandra, her older sister Dorine and parents Julian and Olga Marks lived in London during World War II. After the war, Sandra and her family immigrated to the United States, arriving in New York City in January 1949 aboard the Queen Mary.
Sandra was a talented child ventriloquist who performed on the Queen Mary, and in television variety shows in New York and Los Angeles. She had a successful career as a child performer, and returned to the entertainment industry later in life with administrative positions at both 20th Century Fox and MGM Studios in Los Angeles.
The majority of Sandra's life was lived in Southern California, with her first husband, Donald Karpman, and their children, Laura, Kenneth, Robert and Julia.
Sandra loved to travel and longed to visit Montana after seeing it in a movie from her childhood. Upon visiting Montana for the first time in the late '80s, Sandra made the decision to move there. Sandra loved living in and around western Montana over the past 25 years. One of Sandra's other passions was maintaining her home to welcome family and friends when they would visit Montana.
Sandra leaves behind her daughters and sons, Laura Karpman of Mission Viejo, Calif., Kenneth Karpman of Oldsmar, Fla., Robert Karpman and wife Shelley of Fort Worth, Texas, and Julia Young and husband Greg of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. Sandra also leaves behind her sister, Dorine Foster-Selleck and husband Walt of Lancaster, Calif.
Sandra leaves behind nine grandchildren, Jordyn Karpman of Mission Viejo, Colton and Callie Karpman of Oldsmar, Emma, Annabelle and Mamie Karpman of Fort Worth, and Eric, Jada and Addison Young of Rancho Santa Margarita. In addition, Sandra leaves behind seven nieces and nephews in California, Connecticut and Florida.
A memorial service celebrating Sandra's life will be held in Southern California in March 2014.
