Sandra Marie Niva Boschee

Sandra Marie Niva Boschee, 66, of Missoula, Montana, passed away on June 23, 2014, of natural causes. Sandy was born in Butte, Montana, on May 11, 1948. She graduated from Butte High School in 1966 and received her nursing degree through St. Patrick School of Nursing in 1970. Being the driven person she was, Sandy finished her degree in three years rather than four.
Sandy was married to Howard Benjamin Hrabe and through this union they were blessed with a son, Kyle Hrabe. They later divorced and Sandy married Gene Boschee in 1973.
Sandy worked as a registered nurse in Erie, Pennsylania; Butte, Montana; Bismarck, North Dakota, and she finished her career as a registered nurse at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula after 34 years of nursing.
Sandy was a nurturer by nature. She had a kind soul and gentle manner that everyone loved. She was a great listener and never complained about herself. Sandy had a soft smile, a great sense of humor, and laughed easily. Because of these qualities many people considered her a dear friend or "mom". People always felt at ease in her presence. She loved her family and friends and always made sure they were well taken care of. She was a dedicated, passionate, and well-respected nurse who touched the lives of countless people. Sandy was a perfectionist and whatever project she took on, whether it was making a baby quilt or wedding cake, it was always beautiful and the center of attention. Always humble, she accepted compliments gracefully. Sandy was an extraordinary cook and took great pride in cooking and baking every meal. She enjoyed trying unique recipes as well as preparing traditional Scandinavian foods. Sandy loved camping at several Montana lakes, and especially those where she had fond memories of playing cards, fishing, laughing, and being with her family and friends. Sandy will be deeply missed by all and will forever be in our hearts.
Sandy is survived by husband, Gene Boschee of 40 years, son Kyle Hrabe (Megan) of Missoula; Ray Derenburger, Katherine Derenburger, and Monique (Floyd) Miller of Anaconda. Grandchildren include Justin, Aaric, Jorgen, Eileen, Selena, Rory, Keith, and Caitlyn, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Sandy is survived by her sister Sherry (Ken) Yates of Opportunity, brother-in-law, Gary (Peggy) Boschee (Florida), and sister-in-law, Roxie Whaley of Missoula. She is also survived her beloved Dachshunds: Punkin, Pebbles, and Pickles.
Sandy is preceded in death by her two infant sons, Nels Boschee and Eric Anthony Boschee; sister, Darlene Schafer; mother Eunice (Lund) Kivela; father Al Niva; and dogs Snoopy and Mickie.
Memorial donations may be given to the charity of choice.
The funeral service will be held at Garden City Funeral Home at 1:00 on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Burial will be in Butte, Montana, at a later time.
